What is a body butter?
Body butter is a fantastic cosmetic formulation that provides intense moisture and soothing nourishment to the skin. It's a blend of luxurious butters, combined with high quality carrier oils to create a thick yet concentrated body cream.
This type of product is excellent for keeping your skin hydrated and healthy as it contains important emollients that help lock in moisture while replenishing the natural oils in your skin. Not only does body butter provide rich, long-lasting hydration, its unique combination of special ingredients infuse the skin with nutrients which helps make it look soft, supple and vibrant.
Some popular ingredients used in body butters are shea butter (derived from African Shea nuts), cocoa butter (from cacao beans), sweet almond oil, jojoba oil plus many more amazing emollients which all work together to create superior moisturising products with phenomenal benefits for you precious skin! Whether you’re looking for something to combat dryness or seeking an indulgence experience for yourself - quality made body butters are a must!
What is the difference between a body butter & a lotion?
Body butter and lotion are both incredibly popular skincare products, but they aren't the same. Body butters contain more oil and other thickening ingredients that make them thicker than lotions. This viscosity gives skin extra hydration for a longer period of time, plus it can help lock in moisture while adding an additional layer of nourishment to the skin.
Unlike lightweight creams or lotions, body butters have more viscosity (thickness) due to their higher concentration of oils and other creamy substances like beeswax or shea butter, so they absorb slower into the skin providing extended moisture throughout the day. The blend of mysterious ingredients also creates an amazingly silky texture when applied which makes using this product pure bliss!
The difference between body butter and a lotion is far beyond merely visuals – one provides superior nourishing benefits over another when it comes to intense moisturising properties that our skin needs during certain seasons such as wintertime or even summer if you have dry patches on your face or body. In conclusion, if you’re looking for an intensely hydrating solution with long-lasting effects then opting for a body butter is definitely recommended!
Best Butters & Oils For Your Skin
Making body butter for yourself is an excellent way to give your skin some extra nourishment! Whether you’re trying to combat inflammation, dryness, or just achieving overall healthier skin, it’s critical to choose the best butters and oils for your personal skin type. There are many oils and butters that have been historically used in skin care products due to their high reputation. Here are some of the most popular ones:
• Coconut Oil is one of the most beneficial natural ingredients out there for skin health. It helps prevent wrinkles by locking in moisture and hydration while also protecting against bacteria as an anti-fungal. Coconut oil also helps the production of collagen which plumps up our skin, fights off blemishes caused by acne, and has antioxidants that protect against environmental damage from UV radiation or pollution.
• Grapeseed Oil is well known for its nourishing qualities because it has Vitamin E combined with fatty acids like linoleic acid that act as antioxidants on the cellular level; these help strengthen the protective barriers in our cells as well as being hydrating agents. It's non-comedogenic (will not block pores) so those who suffer from acne will want this great option when looking at oils; grapeseed oil can even work topically on affected areas if necessary!
• Shea Butter contains essential vitamins such as A,E & F along with oleic acid which moisturises deeply into our layers while fighting inflammation - ideal for those suffering from rosacea or eczema! Plus this ingredient is amazing at sealing all other elements leaving a layer of protection especially during harsh climates like cold winters where windburns can occur more often than not! Additionally shea butter prevents water loss meaning long lasting hydration throughout day without worrying about having too much sebum production (aka oilyness).
Overall these butters are perfect choices whether you’re trying to make something specific for your own skincare routine or creating a product range for others - they're packed full of benefits derived from their incredibly nourishing properties that will leave you feeling healthy and refreshed each day!

When is best to use body butter?
Body butter is a thick, luxurious moisturiser that is popular for its deep nourishing properties. It can be used all over the body to combat dry skin, and it works especially well on rough patches like elbows and knees. The best time to apply body butter is after your daily shower or bath when your skin has been freshly cleansed and still holds some moisture from the warmth of the water.
It's recommended to use body butter every day if you have dry skin. However, you might only need to use body butter every two to three days if you have common or oily skin, or once a week to treat particularly dry areas.
The key to effectively using body butter is to not rub it in completely but rather leave a little bit of moisture on your skin. After patting down with a towel, wait a few seconds for your natural body heat to soften up the product before gently rubbing it into your skin. This ensures that all of the active ingredients have time to absorb fully so you’ll benefit from their long-term benefits! Body butters are usually thicker than lotion formulas, so they are ideal if you want an extra dose of hydration throughout the day or night.
Is body butter good for all skin types?
Yes! Body butter is good for all skin types – it really depends on your individual skin type and the body butter your choose. Body butters are incredibly versatile and can be formulated for a wide range of skin types by choosing your ingredients based on desired benefits for your skin.
For dry, cracked, or sensitive skin that needs extra emollients, body butter provides an added layer of nourishment and protection. Unlike many other moisturisers which contain water (which makes them lighter and helps them absorb quicker), body butter is a thicker cream-like formulation designed to protect the skin for longer.
It is about finding the best body butter for you! One that uses ingredients that are more suited and beneficial for your skin type, so if you are worried doing a little research to see what works best for your skin is definitely recommended.
All of this being said - if you have normal/oily skin then I would recommend opting for lighter moisturising products instead such as lotions or creams with enrichers like hydroxy acids etc that will help balance out oily patches whilst still maintaining hydration levels elsewhere!
