How To Make A Tea Infused Gel Face Mask
Our Tea Infused Gel Face Mask is gentle and cooling, with a calming aroma and quick drying results. Apply thinly and within 5 minutes you can peel away!
Did you know 'It takes around 2,000 tiny leaves to make just 450g of finished tea', but in return tea is amazing in so many ways!
Tea has an amazing range of therapeutic properties and is also said to help with acne, ageing, swelling, oily skin and much more. With green tea becoming increasingly popular, especially for it's anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties!
Another amazing product we have included in this make is Sodium Alginate. It is a fine white, slightly cream powder that transforms into jelly when put in contact with water. A product derived from seaweed means it is soft on the skin and helps to retain moisture.
By combining these two rather amazing ingredients we have created a revitalising and refreshing mask that peels away just as easy as you apply it!
This recipes makes approximately five face masks, however this recipe doesn't use a preservative so we recommend using as soon as you make it.
Equipment
• Measuring Jug
• Spatula
• Measuring Spoon
• Accurate Weighing Scales
Ingredients
• 3 tbsp Hot, Clean Water
• 1.8g Green Tea Extract Powder
• 0.5tsp Sodium Alginate
• 2 Drops Green Tea & Balm Mint Fragrance
Method
Step 1
Firstly weigh out your ingredients.
Step 2
Then in your jug make up a tea solution by mixing the tea powder in your hot water.
Step 3
When the tea solution has cooled slowly sprinkle in your sodium alginate. You may need to leave this to settle as the mixture can go clumpy. Sodium Alginate likes to absorb the liquid itself so you may just need to be patient.
Step 4
Mix your ingredients until it meets your required consistency, then add in your fragrance and stir.
Once all your ingredients are mixed your Tea Infused Gel Face Mask is ready to use.
Tip: Apply using a brush or your fingers thinly across the structures of your face. Do not get in your eyes or mouth.
You want to apply enough to create a thin layer than should dry within 5-10 minutes. Once dry peel away!
Don’t wash this down the sink, it is to be disposed of with general waste.
Alternative Uses
For a refreshing eye mask, use the tea solution and mix with 1tsp of Sodium Alginate. Leave to set, preferably in a fridge and gently place on your eyes once chilled.
