Not only is it an enjoyable DIY craft, this simple recipe imparts the therapeutic benefits of all-natural cocoa butter into each long soak. Get ready to create something special that will make you—and possibly loved ones—feel truly pampered on any given day!
This recipe is also free of any fragrance oils, as the Cocoa Butter creates it’s own amazing aroma. If you wanted a different aroma you can add in 2.8g of an essential oil or fragrance. A perfect additional scent would be a sweet orange, to give you a yummy chocolate orange aroma!
What is a bath melt and how do bath melts work?
A bath melt is a gentler and more subtle way of soothing your skin whilst taking a warm bath. A calmer alternative to a bath bomb, with a bath melt the warmth of the water slowly melts the ingredients, filling your tub with moisturising butters to cleanse and protect your skin.
Bath melts are a softer option for those with sensitive skin, as they are achievable without the addition of fragrances and colour, and they use ingredients that are all about healing you skin, which is why they are perfect for selfcare and indulgence.
What is Cocoa Butter?
Cocoa Butter is a naturally rich ingredient, perfect for moisturising, cleansing and soothing your skin. Cocoa Butter is high in fatty acids, meaning it is a great butter for hydrating, it also has a naturally fragrance aroma to add hints of chocolate to your lotions, creams, butters and melts.
Why is Shea Butter good for skin?
Shea Butter has many amazing properties especially for your skin. From moisturising to anti-aging, it helps with dry skin, acne prone skin, is anti-inflammatory and has healing properties. Helping to soothe, tone and all round improve the quality of your skin.
Equipment for Bath Melts
• Two Saucepans
• Spatula
• Heart Moulds
Ingredients for Bath Melts
• 40g Emulsifying Wax
• 5og Shea Butter
• 10g Cocoa Butter
How to make bath melts...
- Firstly melt your cocoa butter in a double boiler.
- As soon as it’s melted add in your shea and emulsifying wax and mix, ensuring all three ingredients are dispersed throughout.
- Once it has all melted pour into the moulds and leave in the fridge to cool.
- Finally, once set, remove from your moulds and enjoy your Cocoa Heart Bath Melts!
Is emulsifying wax safe for skin?
Emulsifying Wax is excellent for your skin, it contains moisturising properties which makes it perfect not just for bath melts, but creams, lotions and butters as well.

Using fragrance oil
