Gel wax is a translucent wax that has a jelly-like quality. The wax has a slower melt rate and a lengthy burn life since it is made with a mixture of mineral oil and polymer resin. Despite being more expensive than paraffin waxes, the completed candle will burn for a longer period of time, making the wax excellent value for money. Get creative with your gel candles, add embedments, candle safe colours and glitters to add character to your creations.
Gel wax is only useful in containers because it lacks the rigidity to stand on its own. We advise adding our dye chips to colour the wax if you desire, but be careful not to add too much otherwise the wax may become opaque. Gel wax should be heated in a saucepan over direct heat because it has a greater melt point than paraffin wax. When melting, gel wax has a tendency to bubble; to prevent this, heat the wax to a temperature above 110 °C, but keep it below 125 °C to prevent burning.
