Benefits Of Face Oils
Face Oils are becoming more and more popular in the skincare industry with all their amazing properties and benefits to the skin. When it comes to adding oils to your skincare routine, you might instantly think of breakouts. As we already produce natural oils on our skin the thought of adding more usually leads most to think of clogged pores and acne, when in fact they can be incredibly beneficial.
So what are the benefits?
- They can protect your skin
As oils are lipophilic, they penetrate deep into the skin trapping moisture in while keeping toxins and other bad stuff out. Some oils can help strengthen your own natural skin barrier even more, like Rosehip Seed Oil, which has a high concentration of antioxidants and is great for protection against the harsh cold as well as UV rays. Rosehip Seed Oil is also known for helping with acne scarring and stretch marks as it is a rich source of vitamin A (in the form of retinol) plus Omega 6 and Omega 3 essential fatty acids (EFAs). - They can reduce enlarged pores
Premium oils such as Jojoba Oil, Camellia Seed Oil and Macadamia Oil are great for pulling out fat and other grime from pores making them appear smaller. Using Jojoba Oil can also help reduce oil production when used in moderation too! - They can help reduce wrinkles
As many know too much time in the sun or ultraviolet light can cause serious damage to the skin- which means sunspots and wrinkles. Some face oils are packed with antioxidants – like our Face Oil recipe featuring Plum Kernel Oil – which is known to help prevent further ageing. So, if you suffer from dryness and sun damage, oils featuring vitamin E and other antioxidants can be beneficial. The below oils are great for the above:• Plum Kernel Oil (featured in our face oil recipe)
• Argan Oil
• Primrose Oil
• Pomegranate Seed Oil - They can help with dry skin and rashes
As mentioned above. If you suffer from dry skin, facial oils can help nourish and lock in moisture. Oils that are packed with omega-3 fatty acids like Almond Oil and Jojoba Oil are hydrating and great for sensitive skin. Many oils also have anti-inflammatory properties like Argan Oil and Sunflower Oil which can help soothe irritated skin.
- They make a great primer
Oils like Pumpkin Seed Oil absorb into the skin extremely quickly, settling into the areas of your skin that need the most hydration which give an immediate plumping effect, smoothing the skin for a perfect canvas when applying your makeup.
Remember different oils have many different properties and it really comes down to choosing which face oil suits you, some oils can nourish your skin whereas you may find others irritate your skin. Always be safe when applying and testing oils.
