Measurements are approximate and you will need to test these (you may find that with different blends, different lengths/widths are needed), but as a rough guide:
Container Diameter 32-38mm = Wick Width 9.525mm (approximate wick length of 76.2mm)
Container Diameter 39-51mm = Wick Width 12.7mm (approximate wick length of 101.6mm)
Container Diameter 52-76mm = Wick Width 15.875mm (approximate wick length of 101.6mm)
You may find that with wooden wicks during the burning that the wax blend may not be right for the wick, so you may need to reduce the amount of fragrance in your candles. You could also add a bit of beeswax to the candle blend to help improve the burn quality.
The wick should nearly always be cut as so that approximately 5mm or less of the wick is exposed above the wax before the first time the candle is lit. If the wick is longer, you could find that burn quality is lowered and the wick may go out during burning.
