Traditional Body Butter

This is a marvelously simple and effective recipe for an all-oil-based body butter which is easily absorbed with minimal greasiness. We use an Orange essential oil in this instance but you can choose any fragrance you wish.
This recipe makes enough to fill 1 x 200ml jar (or 4 x 50ml jars) and can easily be multiplied if you want to make more.

YOU'LL NEED.....

1) A saucepan
2) A mixing bowl
3) Suitable jar/s or tin/s
4) Kitchen scales
5) Teaspoon and 1/4 teaspoon measures
6) Electric hand-held whisk

HOW TO.....

Weigh the cocoa butter, shea butter and apricot butter into the saucepan and gently heat until completely melted. Continue heating gently for a few minutes (this helps minimise any graininess in the final product) whilst gently stirring. Take off the heat and pour into the mixing bowl. Add the sweet almond oil, wheat germ oil and the vitamin E (optional), stir well then leave to cool in a bowl of iced water.
To speed things up you may wish to put the bowl into a fridge. Once the product has cooled to a soft semi-solid consistency, add your essential oil or fragrance and using an electric whisk, whisk oils until it looks like soft whipped cream.
Spoon into suitable containers and allow to set for 24 hours.
