Instructions for using BTMS 225 in Hand Made Products

BTMS-225 is a vegetable derived emulsifier and conditioning agent which is used in hair conditioners and hair leave-in-products for its excellent wet combing, and detangling properties. BTMS-225 is able to emulsify high levels of silicones, such as Dimethicone and Cyclomethicone, increasing the detangling properties and silky feel to products when used. It is also a great emulsifier for skin care products such as creams and lotions as it helps to soften the skin, leaving a soft non-greasy feel. It can be used in a wide variety of applications including creams, deep conditioning hair relaxers, hair conditioners and detanglers.
Typically the recommended use is 1-5% in conditioner type formulas. Because there is cetearyl alcohol in the product it will build viscosity the more you use. The quat will also increase the conditioning in the formula.

METHOD: To make approx 100ml of hair conditioner... Boil your water first, weigh 95g of boiling water into a heat-proof jug. Add 5g of BTMS-225 and mix thoroughly, ideally with a stick blender for 2 minutes. Leave to cool until it is below 45 degC, then add any chosen fragrance or essential oil at max 1%, add your chosen preservative at recommended inclusion, leave to cool to room temperature, then bottle.
