Instructions for using BTMS 225 in Hand Made Products

_jeesperse

BTMS-225 is a vegetable derived emulsifier and conditioning agent which is used in hair conditioners and hair leave-in-products for its excellent wet combing, and detangling properties. BTMS-225 is able to emulsify high levels of silicones, such as Dimethicone and Cyclomethicone, increasing the detangling properties and silky feel to products when used. It is also a great emulsifier for skin care products such as creams and lotions as it helps to soften the skin, leaving a soft non-greasy feel. It can be used in a wide variety of applications including creams, deep conditioning hair relaxers, hair conditioners and detanglers.
Typically the recommended use is 1-5% in conditioner type formulas. Because there is cetearyl alcohol in the product it will build viscosity the more you use. The quat will also increase the conditioning in the formula.

EXAMPLE

METHOD: To make approx 100ml of hair conditioner... Boil your water first, weigh 95g of boiling water into a heat-proof jug. Add 5g of BTMS-225 and mix thoroughly, ideally with a stick blender for 2 minutes.
