Pimenta Dioica
Allspice, also known as Pimento in the Caribbean islands, is native to some countries of the Caribbean and South America. It is a big evergreen tree with the botanical name Pimenta Dioica or Pimenta Officinalis.

The Essential Oil of Allspice is extracted by steam distillation of its leaves and fruits, which slightly differ from each other in color and aroma. The chief constituents of its essential oil are cineol, caryophyllene, eugenol, methyl eugenol, and phellandrene.

This essential oil, despite being unpopular with aromatherapists, has a number of medicinal and therapeutic uses.

The health benefits of Allspice Essential Oil can be attributed to its properties as an anesthetic, analgesic, antioxidant, antiseptic, carminative, relaxant, rubefacient, stimulant, and tonic substance.

Please note that due to this oil's high Eugenol content it does have inclusion restriction when used in toiletries and cosmetics.

We supply essential oils as cosmetic ingredients and as such we are not obliged to label them with warnings about their topical or theraputic uses etc.. Should you be purchasing essential oils from us for any purpose other than as a cosmetic ingredient please refer to our Essential Oil Reference Guide for useful information. You may want to re-label your products according to the use they are to be put to. Read Our Essential Oil Reference Guide.
