Activated Charcoal or Carbon to give it it's proper name.

The activated charcoal comes in a hard, pellet form.

Activated Charcoal or Carbon to give it it's proper name, has been used for thousands of years in many ways.

Commonly it is used for it's health benefits, being an excellent dietry supplement which helps improve the condition of the intestines and colon.

In beauty products it's use might be less obvious but because of it's amazing absorbtion properties, when used as a skincare ingredient it draws bacteria, poisons, chemicals, dirt and other micro-particles to the surface of skin, helping to achieve a flawless complexion and fight acne.

Charcoal is not metabolised or absorbed by the body, but it can be used to treat some poisonous bites and disinfect some wounds.

Activated charcoal can absorb thousands of times its own mass in harmful substances, which makes it a useful ingredient in facial masks.

Due to it's amazing absorbtion properties it is also used in many filtration situations from keeping the water clear in fish tanks to acting as a clearing agent in distilled alcoholic drinks.

Apparently it can also be used to whiten teeth when added to a basic tooth paste.

remember that this is pellet version and you will need to ground it yourself before using in most recipes. We have been keeping ours eyes open for another version but sadly nothing just yet.

Activated Charcoal is okay, though it would be much easier to use as a powder as it comes in pellet form. That's my only complaint about it though! Good stuff.

The activated charcoal is not powdered as you would imagine for a home cosmetic ingredient, it is in 'bud' form and you will need to grind it in a coffee mill and sieve it before adding it to your recipe, however, it will still not be as ultra fine as can be purchased easily elsewhere.
