ROOM SPRAY & FRAGRANT WATER RECIPEA very simple recipe for making your own room sprays and fragrant waters for use in steam irons etc. These are not suitable as toning waters for cosmetic use. IMPORTANT... If you want to use this product as a fragrant ironing water in your steam iron, it is best to use twice the amount of water or reduce the solubiser and fragrance content by half from the quantities given below.YOU'LL
NEED..... HOW
TO..... Using PEG 40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil as solubiser. Proportions: Per litre of water, use 20 - 30ml solubiser and 10ml fragrance/essential oil. Warm the solubiser preferebly in a suitable jug or container either for a few seconds at a time in the microwave or in a 'bath' of hot water. The container needs to be large enough to hold the water content as well. Warm the water in a suitable jug or container (if using tap water, simply use warm water. If using deionised water, which will improve clarity, warm the jug of deionised water in a 'bath' of fairly hot tap water). Mix the warmed solubiser with the fragrance/essential oil and stir thoroughly. Then add the warmed water to the jug of solubiser/fragrance, whisking/mixing all the time. If the mixture does not solubise satisfactorily, warm the mixture and whisk until it does. Leave to cool and bottle as required. HOW
TO..... Using Ressasol as solubiser (simpler to use). Ressasol is a branded product especially produced to render insoluble fragrance/essential oils soluble in water. It is liquid at room temperature and so can be used cool. With experience it can be used in lesser concentrations, although we cannot be specific about precise concentrations for different fragrance/essential oils. Proportions: Per litre of water, use 10 - 20ml solubiser and 10ml fragrance/essential oil. To ensure success for any fragrance/essential oil, use maximum concentration. Adjust with experience from your own experimentation. Add the solubiser to the measuring jug and add the fragrance/essential oil to the solubiser, whisking/mixing thoroughly. Add the water (deionised will improve clarity), whisking/mixing all the time. Leave to settle. Bottle as required. If the mixture does not solubise satisfactorily when using maximum concentration, it may be the water used was too cold. Warm the mixture a little and continue whisking until it solubises satisfactorily. THAT WAS EASY WASN'T IT..... For all your ingredients, visit our on-line catalogue.
