FOAM BATH & SHOWER GEL

A very simple recipe for making your own foam baths and shower gels using our NEW SLS/SLES/FREE concentrate.

YOU'LL NEED.....
1) A plastic bucket/tub with lid.
2) Kitchen scales.
3) A stirring spoon or hand (baloon) whisk.
4) Suitable bottles with either screw-tops or 'squeezy' lids.

INGREDIENTS
Foam Bath/Shower Gel Concentrate. (available to buy on-line)
1% essential/fragrance Oil (3% before dilution)
A few drops of liquid colour of your choice or powdered water-soluble colour dissolved in a little water..

HOW TO.....

This concentrated base has the additional benefit of being free of SLS and SLES. It initially appears yellowish and slighly opaque, but once diluted will become near water-clear.

Measure out the desired quantity of foam bath concentrate into the bucket/tub, remembering the final volume/weight will be 3 times the starting volume/weight (scales are useful. 1 litre = 1 kilo for these purposes).

Calculate as accurately as possible 3% by volume of your desired fragrance or blend of essential/fragrance oils and add to the base, whisking/stirring it in (once diluted this will become 1%). Important...do not exceed this % age, especially with citrus-based oils and fragrances. Geranium oil or oils with a high Geraniol content may not work well in this base, so avoid them.

Add clean water, steadily, a little at a time, stirring/whisking gently, until EXACTLY 3 times the original weight is shown on the scale (1Kg base to 2 Kg of clean water, making 3 Kg of foam bath/shower gel) and the consistency becomes that of a typical foam-bath (it will not be clear at this stage).

Add a few drops of your desired liquid colour or blend of colours and whisk/stir in. You may also choose to add a small quantity of a glitter powder or pearliser (remember to use very light-weight powders or they will simply sink to the bottom)..

Place the lid on the bucket/tub and leave overnight until it settles and becomes clear.

Bottle as required. This can be a slow process if using a funnel. Pump dispensers are available from our on-line catalogue to fit our semi-opaque bottles in sizes 250ml to 1Lt.
